Fifth Grade Experience Fee
Our 5th graders have a very special year ahead! They will participate in the Howdy Parade, take awesome field trips including T Bar M and Mitchell Lake, participate in a graduation ceremony and celebrate with a pool party! In order to cover the costs associated with these fun events, there will be a 5th grade fee of $100 for all students. This one-time fee will include the 5th grade t-shirt and will provide access to all events. There will be no other fundraising related to these activities this year. If you have not yet paid the 5th grade experience fee, you can pay it HERE. For any questions or to pay by cash/check, please contact Marisa Ketchum.
5th Grade T-shirt
5th grade t-shirts are being sold on Mule Market & will be distributed before the Howdy parade. They should be worn on all 5th grade field trips and other fun events. If you didn’t get one during Mule Market, there will be other limited opportunities to buy your new 5th grade t-shirt!
Howdy Night Parade-- Wednesday, September 18th, 2019
All 5th Graders are invited to walk in the Howdy Night Parade!
Come join in the Alamo Heights homecoming tradition of the Howdy Night Parade!
We will meet at 4:00 sharp at the Alamo Heights Little League fields grassy area on the corner of Argo & Viesca. Parents are also welcome to march, but please no siblings. The parade will begin at 4:30 on Alamo Heights Boulevard and head north up the street, turn right on Castano and then will cross Broadway. The parade will end around 5:00 at the Alamo Heights High School (Castano and Vanderhoeven). PARENTS MUST MAKE PLANS WITH YOUR CHILD WHERE TO MEET IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PARADE. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the Howdy Night Carnival at the High School afterwards.
Per the AH Police Department: There cannot be ANYTHING thrown from the parade participants. This includes candy, toy footballs, t-shirts, etc. If the participants want to walk along the side of the roadway and HAND things out, that is permitted. Parade participants WILL BE REMOVED at the nearest cross street by police officers if they cannot adhere to the rule.
Make sure your student wears their 5th grade Woodridge T-shirt!!

Howdy Night Parade Supplies and Donations
We need your help to make this a success! We are asking for donations to help with candy and water costs. Please fill out and return the form (that was sent home) to your homeroom teacher ASAP.

Purchase a 5th grade Ad HERE by Friday October 11th. The 2 1/2” x 4” ads will appear in the back of the yearbook. Each ad includes 1-3 photos of your student and a special message from you, the parent or guardian. Your message should be 25-30 words in length including the salutation. Photos should be appropriately sized (high resolution) for printing (1MB or larger in size preferably). If you submit a low resolution photo, the photo will print grainy.
Once you have purchased your ad through Mule Market please send an email to K'Lee Skaug with the following information:
- Email address
- Cell phone number
- Name (yours)
- Child’s name
- Message you would like to appear in 5th Grade Ad (limited to 25-30 words)
- Photo(s) to be included
Questions? Email K'Lee Skaug.
T Bar M Field Trip
T Bar M (in New Braunfels) is a camp that provides a day-long field trip for the students. Students enjoy ropes courses and group games that encourage teamwork, cooperation and trust. Buses leave by 8:15 and return at 5:00pm. No parent chaperones will be needed for this field trip.
All 5th graders are invited to try out in the spring for this variety show, either solo or in a small group (skits, singing, piano, dance, puppet show, or anything creative). More information will be sent home at a later date.
Now and Then Photos
Parents are asked to provide a picture of their child when they were younger and a current picture. These pictures are shown side by side on a large screen at the Graduation Ceremony as each child walks across the stage. Watch for a form asking for these photos in March. They are due by April 27.
5th grade Video
Pictures taken throughout the past five school years are put together with music and made into a video to be shown at the Graduation Ceremony. A permission slip will be sent home at the beginning of the year to give permission for your child’s picture to appear in the video. The permission slip must be signed to be included in the video.
Pre-order your yearbooks now to preserve your child’s 5th grade memories for $30 by April 30th through Mule Market. We encourage parents to keep a copy of their receipt as a reminder of this purchase since yearbooks do not arrive until the last week of school. For more information, contact Cindy Puchalski.
Graduation Ceremony and Pool Party
A Graduation Ceremony will be held in the Woodridge Auditorium at 9:00 a.m. on May 21st. Prior to the ceremony, students will parade throughout the school one last time after morning announcements. Following the ceremony students will enjoy a private pool party at the Alamo Heights Pool. Parents are invited to attend the Graduation Ceremony and are encouraged to volunteer at the pool party.
