SUBJECT: Woodridge PTO February Newsletter

Thank You Woodridge Community!

Just before the holidays, PTO was able to present Fall Curriculum and Enrichment Grants to WE teachers, staff, and administrators. Thanks to YOU - our very generous Woodridge community - & the record-breaking amount raised at Carnival, WE gave over $80,000 and were able to approve every single request from teachers, staff & administration! Some of the items granted include:

- Countless materials & resources related to English, Science, & Math, including something for every single grade or class

- Professional Development workshop on Writing - all staff

- Additional EduKits for those in need

- Microwaves in Teachers Lounge (to replace broken ones)

- HEB gift cards to supplement Holiday Angels donations

- Kind Squad t-shirts

- Support for specific programs such as OM, & new Military appreciation initiatives

- Specials (PE, music, etc.) replacement supplies & various classroom/campus supplies

This is just a small sample of the many requests received, and we are SO proud of our ability to fund the many campus & classroom enriching requests.  We are confident that these Curriculum and Enrichment grants will enhance our school and students immensely.

Additionally, because of how much was raised through Carnival, we will NOT be hosting an official Spring Fundraiser! Instead we hope you'll support a handful of Dine-Out/Community Fundraising efforts & continue ordering Papa John's as these are easy ways local businesses will give back to WE PTO.

Again, we are so glad to be able to provide so many extra items that the school's budget doesn't cover - all thanks to YOU! As we embark on the remaining months of the second semester, I am once again humbled and grateful for our community's dedication to our school and children.

With sincerest appreciation, Jamie Kimball, PTO President '24-'25

Valentines Post Office

It’s time for the Woodridge Valentines Post Office!  It will run from Thursday, February 6th through Thursday, February 13th.  This fun tradition allows students and parents to show kindness to others by writing notes to friends, teachers, and administrators while learning the art of proper letter writing!  Read more about it HERE.  Parents, you may drop off Valentines notes for your kids in the front foyer.  Please forgo sending candy in your Valentines!

We also need volunteers to help sort the mail! Click HERE to sign up to help - it’s a sweet & quick volunteer opportunity!

PTO Meeting: Feb 12th

Make plans to join us on February 12th at the first PTO meeting of 2025!  We are excited to hear from our guest speaker - AHISD Board President, David Hornberger.

*We will have two additional PTO meetings this Spring: April 10 and May 7 (both at noon).  We hope to see you there!

Art Show + Papa Johns Teacher "Delivery" Night

NEW THIS YEAR: We are changing up the format of the Papa John’s Teacher Delivery Night (which is typically held later in the Spring) to coincide with the annual Woodridge Art Show!  Pizza pre-order forms will go home in advance, and teachers will be between the gyms ready with your pizza order after you visit the Art Show.

*Please note that there will not be a drive through line for pizza pick up this year.

Yearbook Orders Due!

It’s not too late to purchase a 2024-2025 yearbook! Woodridge yearbooks are the perfect way to capture the memories and milestones of your child’s year.  Plus, they’ll be so fun for your kiddo to look back on someday!  Yearbooks are $40 each.  You may also donate a yearbook to a 5th grader who may otherwise not receive one.

Purchase HERE !!

We still need photos for yearbook!  Specifically, we need pictures of multiple kids at the school or on field trips.  You may email photos directly to woodridgeyearbook2025@gmail.com. Please help our yearbook team out by specifying grade, teacher, and student names where possible!
